History

The Château de Waleffe has been in the possession of the present owner’s family for 13 generations. Blaise- Henri de Corte, Curtius, built Waleffe at the beginning of the 18 Th century and his successors, the Flaveau de la Raudière family added to it, inspired by the decorator, Daniel Marot, whose work combined the highest refinement with an elegant simplicity.

The interior of the manor house has been splendidly preserved by the barons de Potesta de Waleffe, who have succeeded in turning the house into a private museum of exceptional artistic and academic value. Waleffe has been listed by the authorities of Wallonia (southern Belgium) as heritage of exceptional interest.

Do you know the Château of Waleffe?

Lying 60 km from Brussels, 30 from Liege and 40 from Namur, remains in family hands. The descendants of the
Great Curtius, who built this château nearly 3 centuries ago, still live within its walls.

The château built in a Louis XIV style, is set alongside a handsome fortified farmstead flanked by two towers which
are the pride of the country. The manor house contains period furniture and stands in some 60 acres of wooden parkland, giving this property a highly valued setting.
